The Benefits Of Positive Thoughts

We all face problems or hurdles as we travel along the road of life, this article gives my viewpoint on how to deal with these issues. I have personally taken inspiration from my favourite football team, Birmingham City. They have a famous song which their supporters regularly sing, it is called, keep right on to the end of the road.

I have often been amazed by the passion and the buzz that I get when going to watch them, and also the passion of the rest of the crowd. On particular afternoon these fans were to teach me a very valuable lesson in life. The season in question had been a very poor one for Birmingham and it resulted in the team being relegated to the then second division (the leagues have been reformed since then and this division is now known as the first division). This was the lowest point the club had ever reached.

With two games remaining the club was already doomed and the next match was the final home game of the season. At most clubs the fans would no doubt give the players some stick and would make it an uncomfortable afternoon for them. Not so at Birmingham, the fans were as passionate as ever and continued to support and cheer them on. At one point a leaflet was sent round the Birmingham supporters which had been produced by the supporters club members. It stated on this leaflet that despite the club reaching its lowest point, that they wanted as many fans as possible to travel to the last match of the season, which would be in London. The fans wanted to ensure that the club were fully aware that we were right behind them and that we would not desert them in their hour of need. I went to that match as did around six thousand other Birmingham fans. One song was sang throughout the whole match, keep right on to the end of the road. It was an amazing experience for me and one that I will never forget. As many pundits predicted Birmingham ended up losing the match but the supporters did not really care.

Later I thought about what had happened. I was now very much aware that this episode can act as a form of inspiration when I start to feel a bit down in the dumps. I was a very negative thinker and realised I needed to think in a far more positive way. I am not trying to suggest that this is easy however I do try my best to do it. I had a negative attitude in part due to the fact that I had a speech impediment. With this new found attitude I eventually found a way of stopping stuttering and I have now been fluent for the last fourteen years.

I have also gained success in my business life selling voucher codes for a local composite door company. It is amazing what a good approach can have on the sales of these affordable front doors. I also work with a group of experts who advise on jobs in foster care.

My belief is that positive people have positive and happy lives. This is what I want and the above example has helped me to get back onto my feet many times.

Life Coaching Advice For Young Adults

I have attended my 12yr old step-daughters parents evening tonight – that sounds a bit of a mouthful to say lol. It was an interesting hour and I believe my daughter has learnt quite a lot from the experience. The teachers gave her some important life coaching advice which I will write about in this article.

My step-daughter is basically a very bright and well behaved child. One of her faults however is that she just does enough, she is not naughty at school but does not give one hundred percent to her studies. This may be due to the fact that she has a stuttering problem; we have looked into the various ways of how to stop stuttering and I am now happy to report that she has achieved fluency after we purchased a seventy minute therapy DVD from a speech centre in the UK.

Before we attended the parents evening we had the opportunity to read her school report. She thought this report was very good as she was above average in her year, this was certainly borne out in her recent examination results. Not asking enough questions, being lazy, rushing homework, not becoming involved with the class discussions – this was most certainly not good enough and were things that made me quite and her mother quite frustrated.

We were also aware that even though the exam results were good, that they could have been even better as she did not do any revision. We told her that even though she was above average that we were not happy with some of the comments made which suggested that she could and should have done even better. She was not happy by this and had quite a big strop thinking that we were just being cruel. I stated that where I work providing external doors, I have to work my socks off other wise I will be sacked. I also work part time at a firm which offers a cheap holidays service.

She is somebody who enjoys playing various forms of sport – especially running, tennis, netball and football. We went to the gym teacher to start with – this was somebody my step-daughter was confident that she would receive positive comments from – after all she is a bit of a star in sports. This teacher first asked how we as her parents thought she was getting on, in general at school. We voiced our concerns and the teacher agreed as she had read the whole report and was also not that pleased with it. “Why do you try so much harder when you play, for example netball, than you do when you are in the school classroom?” What a great question I thought to myself. She did not know what to say and seemed quite shocked. The teacher stated that even though sport is important, the other subjects should come first and that if she did not see a marked improvement over the next few months, that she would drop her from the netball and athletics team.

Stuttering And Stammering Speech Therapy Courses

The popularity and demand for the one-to-one communication therapy courses for stuttering is growing every year. The courses are normally held over a five-day period however there are also a two and three day option available. The courses themselves are run by a person who knows all about the subject of stammering and stuttering due to the fact that he had this type of speech impediment for eighteen years of his life before managing to achieve fluency when he was aged twenty-two.

The stammering/stuttering therapy course are held in Birmingham which is in England. The How to Stop Stuttering Centre has been offering these speech courses since 1996 and Steve Hill who runs them has regularly been featured within the media during that time including a front page appearance on the much respected Daily Telegraph.

Steve has also produced a number of self-help products for the people who are not able to attend a stuttering speech course in England. These include a stuttering therapy audio book, a stuttering therapy DVD and a stuttering therapy e-book.

Steve has recently developed the “stuttering treatments via Skype”. This is where people are able to communicate with Steve whilst also watching his responses on their computer screens. This abilty to watch the speech coach describe and demonstrate the techniques is of great benefit in speech pathology.

The feedback that has been received from the people who have attended one of the stuttering/stammering courses or who have purchased one of the self-help products has been very positive.

A two day weekend speech course has recently been added to the list of therapy options that are available.

To achieve fluency I realised that I needed to start thinking in a much more positive manner; out went the negativity and in came a whole new “I can do it” approach. This really is the only way to go and I only regret that I did not realise this a whole lot earlier.
