I had lunch with a long time friend today whom I’ve not seen since this time last year. We took the time to catch up on what had happened in 2011 and what we are anticipating in 2012.

As she was talking about her year in hindsight, I spotted that she looked so gorgeous and quite a bit thinner than when I had last seen her. Also, the successes she was sharing appeared surprising when I recollected our last conversation in Jan 2011. “What occurred to form this success and abundance?” I asked her.

“I opened up to myself with appreciation and love,” she said. “Everything that occurred was there all of the time. I just had to shift a little bit….”

My pal was a living testament to the power of gratitude.

The practice of appreciation as a tool for contentment has been in the conventional for some time.
