It is safe to say that we live in a very modern world. Technology is booming, people are learning, and experimentation is a way of life. A person’s point of view may shift several times with the amount of knowledge they encounter on any given day. The modern world is a world of adaptation, both mentally and physically, as such people may be spiritual but not religious. As people connect easier and from greater distances, they are learning about different lifestyles all the time. From dining styles to new religions, people are being exposed to new ideas. No one can deny that different religions are becoming common knowledge. Societies cannot help but meld when they are so easily connected through technology. We are gaining so many opportunities to live our lives uniquely, or be influenced by inspiration around the world, that it becomes obvious that one religion cannot fit one and every person.
What with new information pushing up like daisies constantly, new ideas spring forth too. Religion is still evident in every country in the world, in some form or other. Yet, in modern societies, people are starting to choose new ways of living, such as being spiritual but not religious. There is more activity in a person’s life today than in ancient times, where religious rituals took days, sometimes weeks at a time. Some people no longer have time to go to the chapel or are able to remember to say their prayers at night. And there are some people who find these older practices obsolete in their modern lifestyle. There are people in the world who are just spiritual but not religious. They do not want a structured way of praying, but still have that belief that there is a higher power to watch over them,
There are many routes a person can take. They can choose to be Agnostic and believe that there is a god, but they don’t put God into one of the categorical religions of the world today. The person may not go to church or know any of the traditional prayers, but they do carry that sense of love that comes with their belief. There are also people who may not even believe in a god, but may have that spiritual sense of a higher power that is putting events in motion. A person knows if they are spiritual but not religious, and however they choose to live their life depends on their unique set of beliefs.
